Oliver Dick ‘Dickie’ Cavendish Jr.

RAINELLE — Oliver Dick “Dickie” Cavendish Jr., 85, of Lilly Park, Rainelle, passed away at his home on October 29, 2012, after a short illness.

Born January 8, 1927, in Charleston, he was the adopted son of Oliver Darwin Cavendish and Mattie Norma Myles Cavendish of Sewell Mountain.

In addition to his adoptive parents, he was preceded in death by his natural mother, Ethel Ruckman, and his half sister, Mary Lee Ellers.

Dickie was a retiree of the C&O Railway Co. where he worked for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War who loved history, telling stories, wood working, knife making and photography.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Annabell Lee Orndorff Cavendish of Rainelle; daughters, Lisa Cavendish of Rainelle and Crystal Cavendish and partner, Richard Morton, of Meadow Bridge; a son, Dickie Cavendish and wife, Dana, of Rainelle; a stepson, Steve Orndorff of Ansted; stepgranddaughters, Misty, Angel and Courtney; stepgrandsons, Danny and Sean; stepgreat-granddaughters, Brandi and Shania; stepgreat-grandsons, Steven and “Bubba”; stepgreat-great-granddaughter, Skylar, and stepgreat-great-grandson, Wayne Tucker, all of WV. He is also survived by nephew, Ed Ellers and wife, Debbie; niece, Ginger Ellers; great-nieces Dawn and Melissa; great-great-niece, MacKenzie; and great-great-nephews, Connor and Cullan, all of Florida.

Dickie will be sadly missed by his friends and forever loved by his family.

As per his wishes, there will be no services.
