HAMPTON – Mahlon D. Waltrip, Sr., passed on April 24, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He is in Heaven now; no more pain and suffering.

Mahlon retired in 2008 from Maida Development as an Electrician Supervisor. He graduated from Matthew Walley High School in Williamsburg and served in the Korean War. He has several diplomas from different schools he has attended.

Mahlon loved to garden, hunt and he loved electronics which he was very good at. He loved fixing clocks, and music played on the saxophone and banjo.

Mahlon was born to Dudley and Martha Waltrip. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters; one son, Mahlon Waltrip Jr. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Julie Ruckman Waltrip; his sons, Tommy Waltrip, Matt Waltrip and wife Jean, and David Waltrip and wife Donna, daughter, Christy King and husband Ken; grandchildren, Brandon and Megan Waltrip, Alex Waltrip, Brittney Miller and husband, Khorey Waltrip, Allison Waltrip, Timothy Waltrip, Danny Watrip; two great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and mother of his children Jane Waltrip; three stepchildren, Lorrie Boone, Kenny Bond and Tammy Priestley.

He loved attending Parkview Church of God where he was an Usher before his illness. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren of all the accomplishment they earned.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 3, 20143 at Parkview Church of God by Rev. Mark S. Hambrick.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service Saturday from 10-11 AM. The interment will be held in Williamsburg Memorial Gardens.
