Mrs. Nannie P. Slaven died at her home in Marlinton, Sunday afternoon, February 23, 1930. She had been ill for some
time. Her age was 71 years. On Monday afternoon her funeral was conducted from her home by her pastor, Rev. J. H.
Haley, of the Southern Methodist Church. Burial was in the Ruckman Cemetery near Mill Point.
At an early age she became the wife of the late Winfield T. Slaven. to this union were born five sons, Orren who died
many years ago; Vinton of San Antonio, Texas; Carl W. and Roy of Marlinton; Guy of the U.S. Army, now stationed at San
Antonio Texas.
Mrs. Slaven was a good woman and a consistent Christian and had been a memberof the Southern Methodist Church for
many years. She was always a faithful worker in the Missionary Society of her church.
