2010 Meeting Minutes

22 Ruckman descendants and guests attended the 2010 Ruckman Reunion. While attendance was light, fellowship was warm and inviting.

The business meeting was called to order at 2:10 after a filling meal. 2009 minutes were deemed satisfactory and the motion was made by Frank Ruckman to okay the minutes; seconded by Betty Neal. There was a question about reserving the shelter. We ate in the second picnic shelter due to the city giving the first shelter to us and another reunion. Since they had more people, we graciously allowed them to eat in the first picnic shelter.

A group of reunion attendees met on Saturday evening for dinner.

In 2011, we will be eating at The Mason Jar, 61 E Main St, White Sulpher Springs, 304-536-5001. Come and join us if you can!

The treasurer reported a balance in the general fund of $572. Due to a healthy balance, no collection for the general treasury was taken.

This was an election year. Robert Ruckman was nominated by Frank Ruckman and seconded by Gene Winebrenner. Then Frank amended his motion to keep the slate of current officers in office and it was passed by all present.

The scholarship committee had their meeting on July 3. They awarded 3 scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each. Those scholarships were awarded to: Blaine Higbee, Michael Lawrence, and Sarah Lawrence.

The motion was made to have applicants come to the reunion
when they initially apply for the scholarship. After much heated discussion, the motion passed.

The scholarship application can be accessed on line at: www.ruckmanfamilyhistory.org

At this point, $1220.00 was collected for the scholarship fund. Gale Ruckman Smith made the motion to adjourn and Diane Altizer DiPaolo seconded it. Until we meet again next year!
