2009 MINUTES

29 people were in attendance for the 2009 Ruckman Reunion.

The first order of business was the most important: eating! At 2:30 the business meeting was called to order by President Bob Ruckman.

The 2008 minutes were accepted as originally reported. We had several topics of new business.

We have our very own website: www.ruckmanfamilyhistory.org

Frank Ruckman maintains the site. The motion was passed to fund the cost of the website from the general fund. Frank invites all of us to take a look and contribute to our family history. Several people told about visiting family members. Julie Chalmers spoke about her memories of attending previous reunions with her father and how glad she was to be there again.

She had a slide show to share that had been played at her father’s memorial. Cards were signed for absent family members.

The scholarship report was given. We had five scholarship applications. All applicants were awarded scholarships of $500. The applicants were Natalie DiPaolo, Blaine Higbee, Michael J. Lawrence, Rachel Smith, and Rebecca Smith. A collection for the scholarship fund was taken and netted $931.

Remember, memorials can be given to the scholarship fund as well as leaving a legacy to the fund. A Ruckman mind is a terrible thing to waste! The scholarship application can be found on the back of this newsletter. The regular fund collection was taken to help defray costs of the newsletter and rental of the shelter. This collection amounted to $121.

There was a lengthy discussion about moving the reunion to a different venue such as Watoga Park to encourage greater participation and increase interest.

Where would you like to see the reunion held and would you come? You can register your suggestions on our web site. Bob Henry was voted in as our new Vice-President. Elections are next year. The meeting was adjourned.
