At 2:20pm the 2002 business meeting of the Ruckman Clan was called to order by Skip Neal, President, after a fine “pot luck” meal was eaten by all. Everyone present introduced themselves and told a little about themselves.

The minutes of the 2001 Ruckman clan reunion meeting were accepted, as
mailed and as presented. The current set of officers, elected July 5, 1998, were
present and are:
Aaron Neal-President,
Bob Henry-Secretary,
Darren Winebrenner- Treasurer, and
Bob Ruckman-Historian.

Secretary Henry gave his report and circulated a sign-in sheet.

Treasurer Winebrenner gave his report: before today’s collection the General Fund balance was $245.24—that is, $368.82 (last year’s bal.) minus $124.20 mailing expenses plus $0.62 interest. The collection for the General Fund was $121.00, making the new balance $366.24.

Vickie Dove reported that the Scholarship Fund has a total of $20,396.35, $8969.18 in a savings account and $11,427.17 in a CD.
T-shirts & coffee mugs were sold for the scholarship fund.
No new scholarship apps. were received.
Scott Halen and Brandon Tenney, winners of previous scholarships, were present and thanked the group.

This year, $3096.00 was collected for the Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship committee is composed of Ruth Neal. (Chairman), Vickie Dove, Bob Ruckman, Linda Winebeinner, & Martha Parcher, & Skip Neal. Any Ruckman descendent is eligible. ” A Ruckman mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

Gale Smith and daughter, Rachael, presented a Ruckman Family Genealogy program with a flow chart. All present were asked to fill out an info. sheet.

It was reported that 92 people were present at the 1st Ruckman reunion 70 yrs ago, held at the Ruckman Farm at Clintonville, WV. A 1934 photo was displayed. Seven people present today were also at the 1932 reunion: Martha Parcher, Elizabeth Krodel, Reba Nye, Galen Martin, David Ruckman, Eugene Johnson, & Virginia Dalton.

Recognitions were: traveled the furthest –
Thomas Henry Family (from Turkey);
married the longest – Bob & Elizabeth Krodel(57 yrs);
youngest person – Susannah Henry(3 yrs);
oldest person – David Ruckman (86 yrs);
Attend the most reunions –
Ruth Neal ( ).
Gale Smith was elected Historian. Other officers carry over until 2003. The next Ruckman Reunion will be Sunday July 6, 2003. A donation of $50.00 was approved for the shelter at CPC for 2003. Business meeting ended at 3:25pm.
Folks visited until 4pm or so before departing (too hot to hang around in the sun with no trees or creek.

Skip Neal held an auction for scholarship items.
