Beulah Bell Ruckman Arbaugh of Nitro passed away on August 19, 2008 at Hubbard House Hospice after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the eldest daughter of the late Dwight and Mae Lanham Ruckman of Leivasy. A graduate of Richwood High School and Charleston Business School she worked as an executive secretary to the President of a
well known chemical company. She married her high school sweetheart, Guy Leach Arbaugh.

Their union of 58 years produced 2 children who survive her, Terri McGraw of Charleston and Tyke Arbaugh of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by 3 grandsons, Bradley McGraw, Christopher McGraw and Evan Arbaugh, a brother Robert Ruckman of Leivasy and a sister Vicki Ruckman Dove of Lewisburg.

As a second career, she and her husband, along with another couple, Bill and Sara Muck started a well known retail furniture business in St. Albans, Colonial Interiors.
A lover of nature, she enjoyed quiet times swinging on her front porch, watching and identifying the many birds in her yard. For many years, each fall she & Guy spent a few months at the beach at Cherry Grove, NC. To describe her morals, integrity and beliefs is beyond description. Her many gifts to others in need were also labeled “anonymous”.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:30pm to 7:00pm on Monday, August 25th with a Memorial Service to follow at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on 20th Street in Nitro. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at HospiceCare in Dunbar and the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston for their compassion and care.
