Betty Jean Rhodes, 85, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House on Cranberry Drive in Beckley, W.Va., following a long illness.

Betty was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, and previously worked for Montgomery General Hospital and Enrique Aguilar, M.D. She was a member of the Gauley Bridge Baptist Church, where she previously taught children s Sunday School classes.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William Sr. and Leoda Thompson of Falls View; her husband, Wade O. Rhodes of Gauley Bridge; daughters, Linda Winebrenner of Lewisburg and Renae White of Rand; and a son, Thomas E. Rhodes of Fayetteville.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, William D. Thompson, Jr., and wife, Shelva Jean, of Beckley; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Rhodes of Fayetteville; sons-in-law, Maurice White of Rand and Clarence Eugene Winebrenner of Lewisburg; grandsons, Darren Winebrenner of White Sulphur Springs and Todd Winebrenner of Lewisburg; granddaughters, Valeria Carte and husband, Kenneth, of Hico and Cheryl Rhodes of Bluefield; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Faith Bailes, and Corey Lemons; a niece, Jan Porter of Charlotte, N.C.; a nephew, Jeff Thompson of Charleston; and great-nieces and nephews, Justin, Garrett, and Allison.

Funeral service will be 12 noon Monday, April 13, 2009, at Pennington Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge, with Rev. Ron George, Sr., of the Gauley Bridge Baptist Church and Rev. Ron George, Jr., of the Fayetteville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Victor.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Bowers Hospice House, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, W.Va.
